Every autumn I’m asked the same question in the showroom: what’s coming next? After more than 50 years designing kitchens, I’ve learned to treat trends with care. A kitchen should last 20 years, not two. So here are the kitchen trends 2027 will bring that I think deserve your attention, along with how to use them without dating your home.

Kitchen trends 2027: a warm walnut effect kitchen with a curved island
Warmer wood tones and softer shapes lead the way for 2027.

Warmer, richer wood

Pale oak has had a long run. For 2027 the mood is deeper, with walnut, darker oak and finishes that let the grain show. Schüller has moved the same way, offering dark oak and walnut effect fronts that bring warmth without the upkeep of solid timber. My advice is to use wood where it anchors the room, such as an island or a run of tall units, and keep everything around it calm. You can see more of the range on our Schüller German kitchens page.

Softer shapes and curves

Sharp corners are giving way to rounded island ends, curved shelving and softer worktop edges. Curves ease movement through an open-plan room and they are far kinder on hips in a busy family kitchen. One or two curved elements is usually plenty.

Stone with character

Quiet, uniform worktops are making room for stone with more movement and veining. The secret is restraint. Let one surface be the statement, carry it up the wall as a splashback and keep the cabinetry and handles simple.

Storage that disappears

The best kitchens of 2027 hide their hard work. Think of a larder concealed behind matching fronts, a breakfast or drinks station that closes away and utility storage that keeps your worktops clear. This is where careful planning matters most, because it has to suit how you really live.

Kitchens that feel like living rooms

Kitchens are becoming less utilitarian. Open shelving for the things you love, a lamp on the worktop, furniture-style pieces and warmer lighting all help the kitchen sit comfortably alongside your living space.

Which trends are worth following?

Choose the ones that solve a problem for you. Layout and storage come first, then materials, then colour. If you’d like to see and touch these ideas for yourself, come and visit us at our Combermere showroom. We design kitchens for homes across Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and North Wales. The kettle is always on.

Kitchen trends 2027: your questions answered

What are the main kitchen trends for 2027?

The main kitchen trends for 2027 are warmer wood tones such as walnut and darker oak, curved islands and softer shapes, expressive natural stone, concealed storage and kitchens that feel more like living spaces.

Are white kitchens going out of style in 2027?

No. White and pale kitchens remain popular, but they are being warmed up with wood, textured stone and softer off-white shades instead of bright gloss white.

Should I follow trends when designing a new kitchen?

Only where a trend suits how you live. Get the layout and storage right first, then choose materials you will still enjoy in 20 years.
